Living a life
Me too, I’m not your average celebrant!
I live in Lancashire with my husband Mark, our teenage boys and our furry friends the fabulous ‘Lady Mabel Cockapoo’ and the regal ‘Princess Penelope Pussycat’. I like eating crumpets, wearing bright colours and singing in the shower!
I have a habit of saying YES to life and can often be found on unexpected random adventures or enthusiastically getting involved in new opportunities that come my way, such as being interviewed alongside royalty on the BBC or getting involved in stand-up comedy and performing at the Edinburgh Fringe.
I am creative, outgoing and love meeting new people so training to be a celebrant at the end of a full military career was an easy and obvious choice and I LOVE IT!
It’s helpful that I also LOVE a celebration
and have been to my fair share over the years, in fact Mark and I have said ‘I do’ on three separate occasions! After catching the bouquet at my friend’s wedding (it really works!), we officially became man and wife on a beautiful Caribbean beach in 2009. In 2006 we had a practice run at a pagan inspired ‘wedding’ in a boxing ring in an inflatable church at Glastonbury Festival before heading off to watch Amy Winehouse. And we couldn’t resist the opportunity to renew our vows with ‘The King’ himself (Elvis not Charles) when we visited Vegas in 2018.
When I'm not you might catch me
heading off in my retro inspired campervan to wave my hands in the air (like I just don’t care) at gigs and festivals, dancing like nobody’s watching in my kitchen to my favourite 90s house music track or attempting a bit of DIY, knitting, decorating… honestly, the list is endless! I try to be all about that plant-based, active lifestyle too, and have tried my hand at everything over the years from paddleboarding to snowboarding, parachuting to sailing. I even competed at the 2022 Invictus Games following my recovery from breast cancer.
All of these experiences and more have given me a unique perspective and ability to connect with people from all walks of life, so I know we will have something in common from that very first phone call. And if you need assurance that your ceremony is in a safe pair of hands, no problem! I am trained to the highest level in celebrancy. I have a background working in support of vulnerable people, I’ve championed inclusion and celebrated difference as a disability advocate and volunteered for a number of charities so you can be assured that I really do approach my work with professionalism, empathy and understanding. No judgement here; just love, support and complete acceptance sprinkled with a touch of northern charm, lots of enthusiasm and all the positive vibes!
